2 Domain Name Auctions to Benefit ASACP

LOS ANGELES — ASACP will receive the proceeds from the sale of two domain names at an auction to be held by Moniker.com at the Internet Expo in Hollywood, Fla., this week. One domain name, donated by Moniker, is AdultWebDesigner.com. The other, to be donated by Internext Expo, has not yet been revealed.

This is the second domain name auction for Moniker.com, which will offer more than 250 domain names at the live auction at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa on Aug. 4 beginning at 1 p.m. EDT. An additional 2,000 domain names will be offered during an online silent auction that runs from Aug. 4-9.

“Moniker fully supports the mission of ASACP and its commitment to protecting children’s welfare online,” Moniker.com Co-founder and CEO Monte Cahn said. “We believe that AdultWebDesigner.com could fetch bids for several thousand dollars and the funds raised will notably impact ASACP operations and draw attention to its positive work around the Internet.”

“Moniker.com’s first auction made over $1.9 million; a domain name can be one of the most important assets a business has so it is an area where companies cannot afford to be frugal,” ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine said. “Being the recipient of the proceeds of the sale of two domain names during this auction will be a great benefit to ASACP. When a company like Moniker.com and an event like Internext Expo step forward to raise money for us that gives us the much needed time and resources we need to focus on our work.”

Moniker.com, headquartered in Pompano Beach, Fla., is a domain registrar that offers Domain Asset Management, a set of business services including name creation, registration, acquisition, portfolio management, appraisal and escrow services, traffic monetization and aftermarket sales.

Formally known as the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection, ASACP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP also works to help parents prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate material online. Companies and individuals interested in supporting ASACP can visit ASACP.org for more information.
